Created in 2011, bicknellfc was a long awaited venture, beginning at one of the coolest and highest vineyards in the region, Bastard Hill. From 2014’s 10 year lease at Val Stewarts small block vineyard on the same site, to 2024s incoming Diamond Valley specials, here’s our story.
origins of the name
Inspired by the communion tokens that were used in Scottish villages, the label design is commemorative of David’s late father who, as a young man, spent time around the Applecross in the north western highlands, hence the APX symbol.
Around the symbol, the lines represent the waves and sands of that shallow bay. The tokens usually carried a message on the reverse side - This do in remembrance of me. David’s remembrance is two-fold: his father and his origins.
