Similar to the 2022 Pinot Noir, these grapes spent 2 weeks on skins with 20% whole bunch for fermentation, it was pressed straight to barrel with no new oak. This is a wine that is cuisine friendly, its fragrance and red fruit characteristics make it a great ‘drinkers’ wine.

The 2023 Bicknell fc Syrah leads with roses and new leather, wafts of roasted game, finely ground peppercorns and crushed rocks. It's all mineral and graphite while also carrying some heft and gristle on the palate. This is a Shiraz made like a Pinot—it is fine and perfumed, perfectly slotting in to the Bicknell oeuvre of focus, purity, finesse and clarity. 12.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.                                                                                                                             94 Points, drink 2025 -2039.  Erin Larkin, The Wine Advocate. 2023 Bicknell fc Syrah. From the Marianna vineyard in Coldstream. Hand picked and optically sorted. Two weeks in open fermenters before being pressed to older barriques and puncheons; 20% whole bunches. A luminous crimson purple. Fragrant and spicy with red cherry and raspberry fruit aromas. Light to medium bodied and quite delicious straight off the bat, this is an excellent addition to the Bicknell FC range.                                                                                                                                                             95 Points.  Philip Rich, Halliday Wine Companion.
